Governor Brown signs AB 1764

Dear ACCESS:

As you know, we’ve been working alongside Technet, Code. Org, Microsoft and others to expand opportunities in computer science education throughout California.  We’re thrilled the Governor has just signed AB 1764 which could allow an approved computer science course to count as an advanced math requirement toward high school graduation.  There is much work to be done to make sure this bill holds promise for all our students, and specifically, ensuring that girls, low-income students and students of color have access to these courses, that they are taught by qualified teachers, and that students are well-prepared to pursue a computer science pathway, if they choose.
